1. Finance Minister announce measures for relief and credit support related to businesses, especially MSMEs to support Indian Economy’s fight against COVID-19
Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi yesterday announced a Special economic and comprehensive package of Rs 20 lakh crores – equivalent to 10% of India’s GDP. He gave a clarion call for आत्मनिर्भर भारत अभियान or Self-Reliant India Movement. He also outlined five pillars of Aatmanirbhar Bharat – Economy, Infrastructure, System, Vibrant Demography and Demand.
“Essentially, the goal is to build a self-reliant India that is why the Economic Package is called Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan. Citing the pillars on which we seek to build Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan, Smt. Sitharaman said our focus would be on land, labour, liquidity and law.
- Rs 3 lakh crore Emergency Working Capital Facility for Businesses, including MSMEs
- Rs 20,000 crore Subordinate Debt for Stressed MSMEs
- Rs 50,000 crore equity infusion through MSME Fund of Funds
- New Definition of MSME and other Measures for MSME
- No Global tenders for Government tenders of uptoRs 200 crore
- Extending the Employees Provident Fund Support for business and organised workers for another 3 months for salary months of June, July and August 2020
- EPF Contribution to be reduced for Employers and Employees for 3 months to 10% from 12% for all establishments covered by EPFO for next 3 months
- Rs. 30,000 crore Special Liquidity Scheme for NBFC/HFC/MFIs
- Rs. 45,000 crore Partial credit guarantee Scheme 2.0 for Liabilities of NBFCs/MFIs
- Rs 90,000 crore Liquidity Injection for DISCOMs
- Relief to Contractors given by extension of up to six months for completion of contractual obligations, including in respect of EPC and concession agreements
- Relief to Real Estate Projects the registration and completion date for all registered projects will be extended up to six months.
- Tax relief to business as pending income tax refunds to charitable trusts and non-corporate businesses and professions to be issued immediately
- Reduction in Rates of ‘Tax Deduction at Source’ and ‘Tax Collected at Source” by 25% for the remaining period of FY 20-21Due Dates for various tax relatedcompliances extended
2. Ek Sankalp, Ek Lakshya – Aatmanirbhar Bharat
- From 1st June 2020, only Indigenous Products will be sold at the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) canteens and stores across the country.
The CAPFs — CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, NSG and Assam Rifles — canteens together sell products worth about Rs 2,800 crore annually.
According to Shri Shah, if every Indian pledges to use products made in India (Swadeshi), the country can become self-sufficient in next five years.
Appealing to the people of the country, the Home Minister said, “Let us all strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Modi in this journey of making India self-reliant, by using indigenous products.”

Gandhiji started a huge public movement to promote Indian products as one of its objectives a hundred years ago.
This was the path shown by Gandhi ji towards self reliance.
Indigenous products of India are:
- Products which occurs naturally in a particular region.
- Some most common Indigenous products are:- timbers, canes, grass, palms, and rattan.
- Also The Tejas, or ‘radiance’, is an indigenous fighter aircraft jointly developed by Aeronautical Development Agency and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. It is the smallest lightweight, multi-role, single-engine tactical fighter aircraft in the world.
3. Bhagalpur Smart City
- Bhagalpur Smart City Limited has been taken initiatives taken up by BSCL include use of technology for spreading awareness; innovative IEC measures for sharing experience during lock-down periods; establishment of shelters for vulnerable population and distribution of supplies and food and other protection measures such as sanitizer preparation and distribution, mask and gloves distribution, disinfection tunnel and so on.
- BSCL supported launch of mobile app – “Mera Bhagalpur” and used it to create awareness, provide important information at a single point and engage people to keep their moral high during this pandemic period.

“Lockdown Ke Panney” is another such innovative IEC initiative taken by the BSCL and its dynamic leadership.
- BSCL Launched a story telling series with a tag line “Lockdown Ke Panney”, for sharing a new story which is based on various experiences of lock down period.
- Every story has a positive message which is helping the citizen to keep their moral high, introspect and explore his/her hidden talents, appreciation of sacrifices done by homemakers / housewives for family motivates them to connect with nature, improves bonding with family and understanding of Rich Indian Culture.
4. Tap connections to all rural households by December, 2022
- Haryana is geared to provide tap water connection to all rural households by December, 2022.
- The State provided 1.05 lakh tap connections during 2019-20 under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).
- Now the State Government is planning 100% coverage by December, 2022, ahead of the national goal by 2024-25.
By doing so, Haryana will be among the leading states to accomplish the ambitious target of providing tap connection to each rural household.
Government of India is implementing the ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’ (JJM) in partnership with States to ensure every rural household in the country has FHTC for drinking water in adequate quantity of prescribed quality on regular and long-term basis at affordable service delivery charges leading to improvement in their living standards.
Advisories have been issued to States/ UTs to take up works related to drinking water on priority so as to achieve the twin objective of providing tap connections to rural households as well as creating job opportunities for local people and migrant workers.
Note: Jammu and Kashmir plans to provide tap water connection to all rural households by December, 2022 under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). During the current year, the Union Territory (UT) is planning for 100% coverage of all 5,000 villages of 3 districts i.e. Gandharbal, Srinagar and Raisi.
The aim of ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’ (JJM) is to provide every rural household in the country a FHTC for drinking water in adequate quantity of prescribed quality on regular and long-term basis at affordable service delivery charges leading to improvement in their living standards.
